    KLARA THOMAS

    Sculptor and Potter 1915-1994

20th Century Works for the 21st Century

  • ABOUT

Klara Thomas, née Lerner, was born in Warsaw and came to the UK with her family in 1936. She worked in the family business as a designer, coming to sculpture and ceramics relatively late, in the 1960s, when she lived in West London with her second husband Vaughan, their two children and her older daughter. In the next thirty years Klara produced a huge body of work, much of which survives; we now hope to share this with a wider audience.

Inspired by natural forms, and influenced by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, Klara developed a wide range of techniques. She had immensely high standards, and was always pushing the boundaries of the possible.
